Foliage

• Large, broad, flat, leaves which are rich green in spring. 
• The new growth has a reddish/orange tinge followed by brilliant autumn tones of bright reds and oranges.

Flowers

Large purplish-red flowers are borne in clusters before the leaves emerge in spring.

Usage

• A great feature tree for any garden, group or mass planting. 
• Also looks nice planted in groups with other maples, Japanese gardens and general garden planting.

Comments

• Grow in full sun to part shade. 
• Prefers moist, well-drained soil and protection from hot winds. 
• Cultivate well before planting with compost/cow manure and mulch well after planting.
