Prunus ‘Falling Snow’ or ‘Snow Fountains’ Weeping Cherry

Prunus ‘Falling Snow’ — Emerald, VIC — Emerald Gardens Nursery

Prunus snofozam ‘Falling Snow’ or ‘Snow Fountains’

  • A great, grafted variety of Cherry, with a very slender and narrow growth habit, making it great for smaller and narrower areas.
  • The pendulous branches hang down gracefully from the graft, which is grafted onto a 1.2 or 1.8m standard
  • The trunk will never grow taller than 1.2 or 1.8m, with just the branches going up a little and hanging down.

Height

1.5-2.5 m

Width

1.5 m

Foliage

  • Dark-green leaves (smaller than the other varieties) with finely serrated margins.
  • Turns colours of yellows, oranges, apricots and reds in autumn, giving a great display.

Flowers

  • Prolific, small, single-white flowers are borne in mass before the foliage appears in early spring.
  • The whole tree is covered in a spectacular show.

Usage

  • An excellent feature for any garden.
  • Great planted alone or in pairs on either side of a path/garden.
  • Great for smaller gardens, large containers and more narrow areas or for general landscape use.

Comments

  • Grow in a full sun to partly shaded position in well-drained soil.
  • Cherries do not like sitting in boggy/wet areas.
  • Mix through some old compost/cow manure and mulch well after planting.
